How Does Biodynamic Craniosacral Therapy Work?
The Craniosacral system consists of the bones of the head, spine and sacrum, as well as the membranes and cerebral spinal fluid which protect and nourish the brain and central nervous system. Like the workings of a fine watch, each part of this system is articulated with the other. When one part is stuck, or out of balance, it affects the motion of the whole.
The Craniosacral system has a lot of information to tell us. The practitioner's primary work is to simply witness the physical and energetic patterns the client's structure is organized around. Using gentle touch, without doing, without judgments or desire to change what is manifesting, the practitioner detects the ways in which contractions, imbalances and constrictions affect the natural craniosacral rhythms, and the deeper expressions and potency of the Breath of Life.
The Breath of Life, this spark of energy/information within our cerebral spinal fluids brings us into form as embryos and carries us into life. This innate wisdom is the basis, the essential blueprint, for our health and wellbeing.
Stress and trauma, whether physical or emotional, can greatly affect the quality and expression of the Breath of Life. Injuries, tensions and any form of abuse can cause the tissues to contract in shock. If these traumatized, frozen areas are not addressed, the result can be migraines, back and neck pain, anxiety, depression and other disorders of the central nervous system.
Biodynamic Craniosacral Therapy treats the whole person, holding and honoring both the conditional or symptomatic, and the ever present health in the body, mind and spirit. During a craniosacral session, client and practitioner work together to observe and track held patterns and places of inertia. This provides the client's body with a unique opportunity to tell its story with more clarity, from a deeper, more essential space.
As the Breath of Life is encouraged to awaken, there is a return to a more natural flow of energy. Mobility of structure is improved, healing is accelerated, stress and its negative effects begin to discharge and clients feel a tremendous sense of wellbeing and relaxation.
